Wendy was an expert hunter and fisherman. She and her husband built their own log cabin in Alaska. She was living the dream in Alaska, out on a bike ride with her two young daughters when hit head-on by a driver who had fallen asleep at the wheel. Many of her organs were donated to allow a better life for others. One of Wendy’s daughters took a bronze medal in trapshooting at the Beijing Olympics!

Cogdell (Nee Torgeson), Wendy, age 43 accidently killed July 15. 1996, Eagle River, Alaska. Wendy grew up in St Louis Park, resided in Alaska 24 years. Survived by husband Richard (Dick Cogdell); daughters Tanis 13, Corey 9 of Eagle River, parents John & Marian Torgeson of St Louis Park, sister & husband Barbara & Roger Jacobson, nephews Aaron & Andrew, all of Stillwater; uncle & aunt Richard & Janice Brandes of Lakeville, cousins Timothy of Lakeville and Steven & family of Bloomington, uncle William Lee Torgeson of Mt Lebanon PA, father & mother-in-law Richard & Georgia Cogdell of Medford, OR; Sister-in-law & husband Nancy & George Halvorson of Eugene, OR, nephew Victor of Palmer, AK, niece Christy of Medford OR. Memorial Service Thursday, July 25. 7 pm at Union Congregational Church 3700 Alabama S. St Louis Park In lieu of flowers, the family will forward contributions lo a memorial fund in Wendy’s name to benefit Tanis & Corey.
